When we sat at the drawing board to give life to our very first collection, we had a myriad of inspirations we wanted to tie in together. Since our inception we have been deeply inspired by nature and committed to finding ways to bring elements of nature inside our homes in unique ways. We wanted to create products which can house memories, tell stories and make you feel something. We wanted to create products which are a joy to look at and to use, while being fresh and functional in their aesthetic.

And so, Thalassa by Gado was born – a collection of objects inspired by the ocean. We settled on the ocean for many reasons. Creating a collection in the middle of a raging pandemic meant finding ways to connect with one thing we all love but did not have access to – travel. To travel is to be inspired, and we wanted our collection to be a way for people to be transported to places they couldn’t physically travel to. And what feels more like a holiday than a trip to the ocean?

The tones & materials we chose reflected the vastness the ocean so unassumingly represents. Brass to imitate the glistening waters at golden hour, stone to reflect the earthiness of the ocean bed, motifs like the sea horse & fish tails to pay homage to the creatures who live in its deepest waters and a colour palette which travels from dawn to dusk with ease. In the months since this collection first took form, we’ve added more products within its folds. Table linen in earthy tones, cake stands moulded from our Avisa glasses, textures and materials which add to the allure of this collection.

As the seasons change and winter rolls around, we have the biggest and most special addition coming to this collection – a collection of ceramics designed in collaboration with Shruti Narayanaswamy; Thalassa 2.0 - the Mirissa Ceramic Tableware collection!
